Can you leave in conditoner all night as a hair treatment?

my hair is really fried and damaged and nasty, i was wondering if you could use normal condtioner (not a leave in conditoner) and put it in your hair and leave it in all night? I use Suave Conditioner for dry or damaged hair and is proven to work at as well as Matrix. So can I put this in my hair all night, and will it get better in the morning when i wash it out? or will it make my hair even worse to leave
